BURIAL AT SEA

2 hours / $300 for captain and boat up to six persons.

Burial at Sea is a tradition that dates back thousands of years. During this difficult time, ash scattering at sea can be a beautiful way to send your loved one on their next journey. Your captain conducts a dignified and caring service for family and friends onboard one of our safe, dry, and comfortable 26 foot catamaran powerboats. We take a leisurely cruise out to Charlotte Harbour through Jug Creek. It is not uncommon for the bottlenose dolphin to join us. There are always pelican and osprey flying nearby. It gives family and friends an opportunity to be in a peaceful natural environment. We ask that you bring flowers to release into the water after the scattering of your Loved One’s ashes. In this way, we can see which way the current is moving. We traditionally do a circle of life around the flowers with the boat and give you the coordinates.

Departure:
Tarpon Lodge
13771 Waterfront Drive, Pineland, Florida.

Wedding and Birthday

We were married on my new wife’s birthday and wanted a way to end this wonderful day.
We called Captain Jack at about 10a.m. and found him in Tampa. He answered and met us at his boat in Bokeelia at 4:30!!! He brought along Captain Linda to help.
This was an amazing afternoon thanks to both Captains. Tours of the islands, with history, cocktails at Cabbage Key, and Dolphins following our boat. We couldn’t have wished for a better end to the perfect day! Don’t miss the chance to get out with either of these fine, experienced Captains….Great experience, wonderful people!!!!

Comfortable vessel and outstanding excursion on Pine Island Sound and Gulf

My father had asked to have his ashes placed in the Gulf of Mexico. Captain Jack as a page on his website for burial at sea. The vessel sat 6 so I was pleased to have all the people that he invited to his last birthday join us. Dad would have wanted it to be a wonderful trip, and it was. Captain Jack went out of his way to make our trip easy, fun and memorable. He offered to stop at Cabbage Key for lunch.

We preferred to dine at Tarpon Restaurant and he made reservations for us. We arrived in 3 cars and he prepared the parking cards for each car. Captain Jack brought Captain Linda who is joining his company. They respect each other and have great report. The vessel had several types of seating, some under cover and some in the open. I sat at the bow which felt like a comfortable chaise lounge. On the way out to the Gulf, we spotted a pod of dolphins and we circled to watch them. He knew the pod and their likely responses to his boat positioning. We placed the ashes and flowers and he circled the flowers as long as we wanted. Captain Jack offered to take us different places associated with the trip. Captain Jack knows his vessel and the waters. I recommend Captain Jack Boat Tours for excursions on the beautiful waters of Pine Island Sound and environs!

Meet Our 26 Foot Glacier Bay Catamarans

The Benefits of a Glacier Bay Boat
A discussion with Larry Graf, principal and designer of Glacier Bay, Inc.

Q. What makes the Glacier Bays ride better than V-bottom boats or other catamarans?

R. V-bottom boats and most catamarans must come up on plane. Basically the hulls lift up on to the water’s surface as speeds move past 12 to 15 mph (planing). Boats that must plane to move at higher speeds will always be affected by the shape of the surface they are planing over (e.g> waves, swells, chop). The twin slim hull design of the Glacier Bay never rises up on plane, at rest or full speed – the main support for the hull is buoyancy. This design feature allows the boat to slip through the waves with a limited effect on the boat. As taller waves work along the hulls, they simply move the mean water line higher and the boat rises. There are no big jarring impacts, bouncing, or pounding in most sea conditions and speeds.
